New Honor’s College at the Alvin Sherman Library, Nova Southeastern University

The project’s program entailed the design and construction of a honors college within 4,800 SF of raw space within NSU’s Alvin Sherman library, previously used for miscellaneous storage. The firm worked closely with NSU from program definition to occupancy to implement of the following functions and spaces in order to provide and inspirational environment for this vital program:

  • A reception and gathering area with new glass entrance wall to create connection to main library floor.

  • A “Great Room” gathering area.

  • A Chair and Table Storage Room

  • A Conference Room.

  • A Workstation Area.

  • An Instruction Room.

  • A Dean’s Office and Administrative Offices along the existing exterior glazed wall.

  • A Production and Printing Room.

  • A light duty Kitchen/Lunch Area.

  • Archival Storage.

  • The implementation of an overall goal of providing an inspired approach to ceilings in public areas in order to enliven those spaces.

  • The Implementation of a Computing and Media Infrastructure.

  • The Implementation of all new HVAC ductwork with local VAV’s with BACnet connection.

  • The Implementation of Fire Separation in coordination with adjacent paths of egress.

  • Coordination with NSU Facilities Department all finishes and hardware standards.
